Watch: Car Smashes Into Siġġiewi Restaurant And Destroys Plant Pots As Passenger Laughs
A car was filmed driving into the pavement of a Siġġiewi restaurant and teahouse and intentionally crashing into and breaking three plant pots.
CCTV footage taken yesterday evening shows the driver driving straight into one of Marilù’s plant pots before reversing and crashing into another one.
At least three people can be seen in the footage, including a passenger in one of the rear seats, who can be seen laughing as they peer out of the window to observe the damage.
Marilù’s said in a statement that it doesn’t know the perpetrators and their act of vandalism shocked them.
“We really try hard to give Maltese aesthetics the importance they deserve. We kept all the old features at 66-68, Pjazza San Nikola and studied its history,” it said.
“From being ‘tas-superjura’, ‘tas-Sagristan’, to having a small shoe shop. It’s the small things too, like getting old Maltese ħwat and investing in plants to decorate our facade with respect to our marvellous pjazza and the stunning church.”
“That is why this just breaks our heart and squashes our spirit. It was shocking to watch, and to watch the laughing face of the perpetrators whilst it happening hurt. We don’t know these people, if you do please let us know.”
The restaurant pledged to file a police report and redecorate the facade.
Several people condemned the vandals, including PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia who said he can attest firsthand to the dedication shown by the restaurants’ staff and owners.
