Watch: Major Brawl Erupts Between Syrians In Ħamrun Main Street, Two Hospitalised

A brawl involving several individuals erupted on the main road of Ħamrun today in the midst of traffic and passersby.

Individual officers from the nearby Ħamrun police station rushed out to contain the brawl when they first spotted it.

Police told Lovin Malta that the fight was started by a group of Syrians.

The fight happened at 1pm in Triq il-Kbira San Ġużepp, Ħamrun. Around 25 men were involved.

The brawl became violent, with different people picking up nearby signs as well as others dashing back to their cars to pick up weapons.

In parts of the video, a male police officer grapples with one man carrying a wooden rod; soon after, he is hit as another man attacks an individual nearby.

Two people were hospitalised as a result of the brawl.

One person was hospitalised with a head injury, seemingly as a result of a wooden rod. The other person was injured by a sharp weapon.

Their conditions are not yet known.

The situation was eventually brought under control after more officers arrived, including members from the Rapid Intervention Unit and Community Police.
