Watch: Maltese-Palestinian Teacher Praises Robert Abela At PL Candidate’s Event
A Maltese-Palestinian secondary school teacher who used to live in Gaza appeared at a PL candidate’s political event to praise Prime Minister Robert Abela for speaking out in favour of peace in the region.
At an event organised by PL MEP candidate Claudette Abela Baldacchino, Hebah Madi said that she and her family used to live in Gaza but fled to Malta in 2009 to provide their children with a better future.
“I don’t have the words to describe what is happening in Gaza right now because it is too painful,” Hebah said. “However, I thank the Prime Minister for the support he has always shown us. It is great that Malta speaks out in favour of peace, and that there is peace in Malta too – it was very important for our family.”
Endorsing Abela Baldacchino, Madi said that she is a close friend of the PL candidate and immediately accepted her request to speak at her political event because “I know she believes in us women”.
Abela and deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne were both present at the event.
