A woman who was casually watching her soldier boyfriend as he took part in a military tattoo got the surprise of her life as he broke ranks to propose to her in the Presidential Palace in Valletta.

In the video, which was posted by Joe Attard, the confused but excited girlfriend is taken out of the audience and brought, with a military guard, to the palace’s entrance.

As she walked through two assembled lines of soldiers in single file, some drummer steps forward, deliver a massive drumroll – and move out of the way for her husband-to-be to literally march up to her before stamping in front of her and showing her the wedding ring.

George Attard, the romantic soldier in question, broke into a massive smile when his fiancée, Jalisse, told him “yes”

As they hugged and kissed in adorable celebration, the nearby soldiers cheered and hurrahed, making this one Malta Military Tattoo the soldiers will never forget.
