WATCH: One New Case Of COVID-19 While 15 More People Recover – Active Cases In Malta Down To 276
There is one new patient of COVID-19 in Malta, Superintendent for Public Health Charmaine Gauci has announced, bringing the total number of cases up to 444.
The new case is an 18-year-old Maltese woman. Her family members are also showing symptoms but are still being tested.
There were no new cases within the Ħal Far Open Centre, which stands at 43.
Three patients have died. Active cases stands at 276 after Gauci revealed that 15 more people have recovered. 165 people have recovered.
Over 808 tests were conducted yesterday, bringing the total up to over 26,100.
Despite the number of new cases, Gauci stressed that health authorities aren’t focusing on daily numbers but on the overall trend.
She also stressed that despite recent positive news, it was important to continue following social distancing measures.
Malta’s R0 factor, which is the number of people each infected person passes on the virus is to, is well below the global average and now stands at 1.1. Gauci has suggested that some measures could be lifted if it drops below 1.

Stay indoors and avoid contact with other people, as you would with the flu.
Do not go to Mater Dei, the emergency department, health centres, private clinics, or pharmacies. Stay home and call the public health authority’s helpline 111.
If you are returning from any country, do not break self-quarantine rules or you will be subject to a €10,000 fine.
Public gatherings of more than three persons are also no longer allowed, with the police now able to dish out a €100 fine.
