PL MP Randolph De Battista said he wished he was the politician who took photos showing Opposition MPs in a fit of rage while Parliament was suspended last week.

As Parliament reconvened for the first time since last week’s heated session, Opposition Whip Robert Cutajar immediately brought up the publication of the photos in PL newspaper KullĦadd.

“As you know, photos can only be taken in the House if there is permission from both sides, but there was no permission for the photos that were published by KullĦadd,” Cutajar said.

“As a number of ministers, including the Prime Minister, had been informed that photos could have been taken, I understand that from now on we can all take photos in the House without prior agreement.”

PN MP David Agius suggested that PL MP Randolph De Battista might have taken the photos himself, but De Battista denied any involvement and defended whoever took them.

“I didn’t take those photos but I’m disappointed that I didn’t, and if those scenes occur again, I will take photos and publish them because the people have a right to know.”

Speaker Anġlu Farrugia pledged to investigate Parliament’s cameras and deliver a ruling. However, government Whip Andy Ellul requested that the investigation expand to include Karol Aquilina and Mark Anthony Sammut, who filmed PL MPs in the House this evening.
