A wind warning has been issued for Malta today, with gusts of Force 7 and even higher expected to hit the islands right up to tonight.

With the official Met Office forecast on the Malta International Airport page broadcasting a yellow warning for the Force 7 winds blowing from the northwest, other popular forecasting pages have gone one step further, with Facebook page It-Temp Madwarna saying today’s gusts might even hit Force 9 in exposed areas of the archipelago.

The seaside areas of Marsalforn, Dwejra and Buġibba are expected to be particularly hit, with today and tomorrow’s Gozo Fast Ferry suspended alongside catamaran trips to Sicily.

Meanwhile, the ongoing wind warning is expected to be valid until 9pm tonight… but judging by the fact that some services are already being suspended for tomorrow, Malta could be in for a long and windy couple of days.
