Yorgen Fenech Has Been Replaced By His Brother As Director Of Tumas Group
Yorgen Fenech, the main suspect in the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, has resigned as the director of Tumas Group and been replaced by his older brother Franco Fenech.
In a document published today but signed to the 12th of November, the Tumas Group Company Limited announced “resigned with immediate effect from his position as a Director and Legal and Judicial representative of the company”.
He has been replaced by his brother “with immediate effect”.
On the document, three different dates can be seen – the 12th, 19th, and 20th November.
The resignation occurred on the 12th, the processing of the document happened on the 19th and the notice was issued today.
These multiple dates could indicate that the change in directorship happened last week and only came into effect in the past couple of days.
Yorgen remains a shareholder of Tumas Group.
Yorgen Fenech was involved in five industries – hospitality, property, gaming, energy and shipping, with the Tumas Group’s assets estimated to be worth over €350 million as of 2017.
Among its many assets, the group owns the Portomaso Business Tower, which is currently Malta’s tallest building and which houses Club Twenty Two, one of the country’s most luxurious nightclubs. It also owns the adjacent Hilton Hotel, Portomaso Casino and the Blue Elephant restaurant.
It is also in negotiations to enter into a joint venture with MIDI, the consortium behind a major Manoel Island development project.
