Reasons 2017 In Malta Won't Suck As Much As 2016
Chin up everyone
As most of you may be aware, 2016 has been a bit of a shitshow, unless you're the person hired to write obituaries for big newspapers. But with the year coming to a close (and quickly claiming as many victims as it possibly can) it's good to look forward to some potential future positives.
1. We'll be seeing a lot of cool, new food trends
We've already compiled a helpful list of what we're looking pho. 2016 has been kind to us gastronomically speaking, and if social media rumblings are anything to go by, 2017 should be even better!
2. The scores of celebrities we already lost can't die again
That's not to say there aren't others we're exceptionally worried about, but at least we won't have to endure the Bowie / Carrie Fisher pain all over again. Maybe 2016 was one of those baptism of fire years, as we prepare ourselves for another year of sadness.
3. Lovin Malta merch is totally going to be a thing
We're not quite ready to show you what we've been cooking up, but we promise it's going to be good!
4. Malta will be fake-running the EU
And although the presidency isn't exactly going to give us the power to make pastizzi Europe's staple dish, it's still a pretty big deal.
5. Which gives us time to cram for the Culture Capital crown in 2018
Like a student who just found out they have an extra day to study for their exam, Malta can use the lessons learnt during the bigm international presidency to cram before our cultural test.
6. We'll have a shittone of long weekends
Half of 2017's public and religious holidays will land on a Monday or a Friday, meaning longer weekends all around!
7. We'll be discussing 2016 issues, not 1970s
Finally Malta's taboo talks will not be discussing the basics like gay rights or divorce, but will be focusing on modern-day issues such as euthanasia and the legalization of marijuana.
