Here’s How Malta Reacted To The Results Of The Egrant Inquiry
Over a year since calling for an inquiry into allegations made against his wife and himself, Joseph Muscat has given a press conference on the findings of this investigation.
The 1,500 page report has cleared Joseph and Michelle Muscat of having any connection to the offshore account, Egrant – allegations that caused a snap election to be called in June last year.
I have been informed that independent Magistrate Bugeja concluded inquiry I asked for on allegations against me & my wife, and handed it over to Attorney General. I asked AG to publish inquiry as soon as he concludes his internal review. I will comment immediately after -JM

Unsurprisingly, such big news caused quite a stir in the local political scene. Here’s how people have reacted so far.

1,500 pages of lies, fabrications, as well as falsification of docs, in one massive lie on #Malta PM @JosephMuscat_JM. @SimonBusuttil who perpetrated this vicious lie has not yet announced he is resigning as MP. As was Saviour Balzan, MaltaToday founder
It was the worst experience in journalism. There was a storyline everyone was expected to follow it. Those who didn’t were accused of selling their soul. Of being puppets. Fabricating a lie is a crime – they knew #efimova/caruanagalizia/busuttil/portelli pic.twitter.com/5qryy0eKfQ

Fans of Muscat were also vocal on social media
While some people were less convinced by what they were seeing
Simon Busuttil broke his silence with a lengthy Facebook post
As of yet, the PN or its officials have yet to issue a statement but will host a press conference at 2:00pm.
