13 Brilliant Reactions To This Ex-Politician’s Freakout On Gay Marriage
An ex-politician who infamously fought against Malta’s introduction of divorce because he said it saddened Our Lady, has come out of early retirement (he’s only 48), to criticise the introduction of gay marriage. Obviously, people reacted with appropriate levels of disdain.
Former Finance Minister Tonio Fenech issued a stern warning this morning that the Nationalist Party risks losing even more votes by supporting the Marriage Equality Bill which is being presented to Parliament this evening.
“Despite the electoral result, the leadership of the PN fails to realize that forsaking what we value will not lead to success. Actually all the PN is doing is risking losing the votes of people who believed the PN stood for something and today are convinced otherwise. If the PN does not want our vote it keeps heading in this direction… This new law is about changing the concept and value of marriage as we know it,” Fenech wrote.
Naturally, Malta was not impressed. Here are some of the best reactions from Facebook.
