WATCH: Miriam Dalli Has The Best Response To Shady Hecklers During Her Speech
Miriam Dalli didn’t miss a beat when tackling unnecessary negativity from the audience at last weekend’s Annual General Conference organised by the Labour Party.
The MEP took to the stage and started her speech as she normally would, but a few seconds in she was distracted by the whispers throughout the audience.
“I’m hearing you saying ‘she’s dressed the same’ – yes, you’re right. We are dressed the same.”
The comments were referring to an earlier speaker, Julia Farrugia Portelli who was wearing the same outfit as her.
“This morning as soon as I walked in I got a fright [seeing her dressed like that]. It’s every woman’s biggest fear. But there’s not much we can do about it.”
Applauding her candour, the audience laughed along with her, but Dalli seized the chance to turn the situation around as she carried on with her explanation.
“After all, aren’t we all the same. Aren’t we all equal? Everyone below the sky is equal and this is something we truly believe in.”
