WATCH: Nas Daily Weighs In On Malta’s Controversial Passport Selling Scheme

As international Facebook vlogger Nas Daily approaches the end of his extended stay in Malta, what could possibly be his last video sees Nas tackle one of the most debated issues in recent local history; the passport selling scheme.

Malta’s Individual Investor Programme (IIP), which allows (rich) foreigners to buy a Maltese citizenship, has drawn the ire of countless people and politicians in the past. As per usual, however, the opening moments of Nas’ latest video were dedicated to highlighting the silver linings.

“This thing is a Maltese passport,” Nas told his millions of followers earlier this morning, showing off the all-too familiar wine and gold document. “If you have it, you are lucky.”

Nas goes on to explain that the Maltese passport grants access to 173 countries “with no hassle”, European citizenship, and not to mention the fact that “you get to live in a beautiful country like Malta.” And that’s where the vlogger drops the big reveal to his international audience: “But what if I told you that this passport is for sale?”

The rest of the signature one-minute video is dedicated to Nas laying down some general information behind the scheme (like the fact that it will set you back around €1,200,000) and the opposing views which many locals will instantly recognise.

“Some say this is good because the country makes a lot of money from it and new citizens start businesses here,” Nas said. “Other say this is bad because you can’t buy or sell a citizenship, and this might attract shady people.” But it was finally time for Nas to weigh in with his opinion on the matter.

“I don’t know where I stand on this topic,” the vlogger announced, still holding up the Maltese passport (this time the wrong way up). “I don’t have the money, but I definitely love Malta. Do you think I or anyone like me should be allowed to buy a citizenship?”

Less than an hour after the video was uploaded, it had already amassed 100,000 views and over 500 shares.
