Popular Vietnamese eatery Banh Mi Malta has opened its third outlet on the island, this time in the heart of the capital city.

Founded by Maltese chef Jeremy Borg and his Vietnamese wife Ngoc Dung Tan after an inspirational trip to the South-East Asian country, Banh Mi Malta started life as a simple food truck.

From pho and bánh bao to the bánh mi baguette classic from which it derived its name, Banh Mi Malta became the first local eatery to whip up affordable Vietnamese street food, and it clearly went down a treat among locals.

In 2020, it moved to a Santa Venera takeaway outlet, taking advantage of a surge in demand for food deliveries in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Banh Mi Malta’s growth continued two years later when it opened a new outlet at the Malta airport’s new food court, and it has now opened its third eatery at Suq tal-Belt.

Our food will let you experience the true taste of Asian culture and tantalise your palette,” Banh Mi Malta said when announcing its latest venture.

“From delectable rice dishes, to bao buns with amazing sauces and fragrant herbs, plus vegan and vegetarian options so that everyone can find something they love.”

“With our experienced chefs in the kitchen handcrafting every order, rest assured that the quality is always top-notch. So come join us for a truly unique dining experience at the Valletta Food Court. We promise it’ll be a flavourful journey!”
