Introducing the #LovinMiliedChallenge

Article Featured Image

There’s nothing like a viral challenge to get people involved in the spirit of helping.

To celebrate Lovin Malta’s First Christmas we are excited to announce our very own #LovinMiliedChallenge!

For those of us who are lucky enough to be able to enjoy unwrapping our own Christmas presents this year, what we’re asking is simple: grab an empty shoebox and pack it full of gifts for those in our community who are a little less fortunate.

Here in Malta we are blessed to have a huge network of NGOs that look out for our most vulnerable members of society, day-in-day-out. However, we’re looking to go the extra mile this festive season to make sure that everyone enjoys a little Christmas Spirit and has a present to unwrap on this extra-special day.

We’ve reached out to children’s homes, crèches, orphanages, refugee centres, elderly homes and safe-houses. The plan is to collect enough gift boxes to give to as many residents of these organisations as we possibly can, and we truly believe in the charity of the Maltese people.

The receivers have no idea about these gifts, it will be a Christmas Day surprise for them.

All you have to do is follow these Six Simple Steps:

1. Choose who you want to gift this year!

Will it be a mother and baby, a child aged 3-10, a boy or girl aged 11-17 or an elderly person?

2. Grab a shoebox!

Everyone probably has a shoebox lying about at home, but if you don’t, or if you are making more than one, just ask for a spare medium shoe box from any shoe store in Malta and tell them it’s for the #LovinMiliedChallenge! If they don’t know what it is then it’s the perfect time to explain it to them and help spread the fun!

3. Get shopping!

Hit the town with your #LovinMiliedChallenge Christmas List. Next time you’re out and about doing your Christmas shopping, just pick up the small presents listed in your gift box category that you will need to fill your shoebox. The challenge is to spend less than €15 on each full gift box, so you’ll have to spend wisely and think outside the box!

4. Get wrapping!

Hopefully you’ve got some fantastic festive wrapping paper to use once you get home. You’ll need it to wrap the box and the box’s lid seperately. You can use glue or sticky-tape, and don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect! Ask a crafty parent or friend to help if need be. Put all your unwrapped gifts in the box and put the lid on it- you’re almost done!

5. Get snapping!

We want to see all of your efforts here at Lovin Malta. So take a cheeky photo or selfie with your gift box, lid on or off, and make sure to tag it with #LovinMiliedChallenge! This could be on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram- spread the word!

6. Get dropping!

Just like Santa’s elves, we will be sorting out which gifts are going where at Lovin Malta Headquarters in Valletta- aka Malta’s North Pole. Make sure to drop off your Lovin Milied Challenge boxes by the 21st December, and we will make sure they get to where they are needed most by Christmas Eve!
