Woman Dies After Encountering Difficulty While Swimming At St Thomas Bay
A 71-year-old Żejtun resident died this afternoon at St. Thomas Bay.
The woman was swimming when she found herself in difficulty at sea. People nearby attempted to assist the woman and managed to lift her to land.
However, despite immediate medical assistance from members of the Red Cross, the woman was certified dead shortly after being taken to Mater Dei.
The police were asked for their assistance in Wied il-Għajn at around 1pm and discovered the death through a preliminary survey.
A magisterial inquiry is currently underway.
