Watch: ‘You Lost Her!’ – X Factor Malta Judges Clash On ‘Big Mistake’ Elimination In 2021 Repeat
Tonight’s X Factor Malta Six Chair Challenge episode was an extremely tense one, with some of this season’s most exciting hopefuls not making it because of the sheer number of talented girls vying for a chair. But in what felt like a repeat from two years ago, the same contestant just missed out on a spot at the Judges’ Houses.
Towards the end of the episode, Amber Woods – who had performed an emotional rendition of Lana Del Rey’s Young And Beautiful – was eliminated to make way for young Mariah Fenech, who has been often praised by the judges as one of the most unique contestants this year. But it doesn’t seem like the judges necessarily wanted Woods to be the one to make way for Fenech.
“I know I say the audience is right,” Howard Keith hinted at Gianluca (who eventually had the last say on his category) while hearing everyone shouting Woods’ seat number to be the one to face the chop. “But not always.”

Eventually, however, Gianluca had to make a decision, and it was Woods after all, echoing a controversial 2021 moment when then-mentor Ivan Grech had also eliminated Woods. And it didn’t take long for the other three judges to make their opinions very obvious.
“I do not agree,” Ira said, shaking her head along with a disapproving Howard.
“She brought something different to the table,” Amber told Gianluca, also shaking her head in disbelief. “No, it was a highly mistaken decision. You had something special, you lost her. She was complete!”
