Halloween means monsters, vampires, zombies, clowns and all the creepy things under the sun (or full moon). And while tasty burgers are usually the stuff of foodie dreams, Burger King have just come up with a new burger that’s straight out of your nightmares. Oh, and it’s green.

Say hello to the Nightmare King

Known to come up with some awesome gimmicks like offering free burgers to anyone who shows up dressed as a clown, Burger King are back for another epically original Halloween stunt this year.

This new baby isn’t just a triple meaty treat of beef, chicken and bacon. The melted American cheese, creamy mayonnaise and onions are all topped off with one spooky gimmick; a green bun.

Yes, you read that right.

The fast food giants actually conducted a scientific study over 10 nights with 100 different participants who ate the Nightmare King before they went to bed. “By tracking various signals from the sleeping subjects, including their heart rate, brain activity and breath, a group of doctors and scientists identified whether the individuals had vivid dreams,” Burger King explained.

“Someone… transformed into the figure of a snake,” one of the subjects reported. Another recalled “aliens attacking” the boat he was on. Apparently, it’s all down to the unique combination of proteins and cheese that leads subjects to “an interruption of the subjects’ REM (Rapid Eye Movement) cycles, during which we experience the majority of dreams.”

Now whether or not you do believe that a green burger’s going to get you dreaming some pretty messed up stuff, we reckon this still merits a proper testing.

The Nightmare King is available in all Burger King restaurants in Malta for a limited time period, just in time for this upcoming spooky week.
