7 Incredibly Cheap Places To Grab A Bite In Malta

Article Featured Image

The fastest way to a Maltese persons heart is through their stomach, but sometimes that road isn’t the cheapest.

For many of us foodies it’s a struggle between paying off our credit card bills and filling our guts with delicious snacks. But fear not! We’ve compiled a list of some of the cheapest, but tastiest, places to eat in Malta according to TripAdvisor.

1. The Submarine

If you’re in Valletta and dying for a sandwich, then this place has you covered. It might be small and there isn’t a lot of space to sit but their sandwiches are amazing and most importantly, cheap. For around €3.50 you can get a fully customizable ftira or ciabatta, perfect for your lunch break

2. Made in Sud

A St.Pauls Bay pizzeria known for it’s classically styled pizza and incredible flavour. Tucked away in a side road it’s easy to miss, but definitely worth a look. A full size Margherita is €6. So if you’re as lazy as us, you can buy 2 for €12 and have your meals sorted for the next couple of day. What’s better than fresh hot pizza? Cold pizza the next morning

3. Cafe du Brazil

With an overwhelming amount of positive reviews and support on Tripadvisor and Facebook, we couldn’t not include this one. Cafe du Brazil is a little gem hidden in the heart of Birgu and you can get pretty much everything here. Pizza, pasta, ice-cream or just a coffee, everything is reasonably priced; and their platters look incredible!

4. Olympic Bar and Restaurant

This unassuming little bar right opposite the Mosta Dome is one of the best kept secrets of the island. Open for lunch, dinner and parties, it’s one of the best value-for-money eateries you can find in Central Malta.

5. Crystal Palace

We couldn’t mention good and cheap places to eat without giving a very special mention to Rabat’s own is-Serkin. This place has cemented itself so firmly in the hearts and minds of the Maltese that it’s hard to imagine anyone who hasn’t been there at least once. Of course there will always be haters. But even they eventually give out under the warmth of good ol’ fashioned tazzez tat-te u pastizzi.

6. Sottozero The Gelato Factory

It’s summertime, if you’re not living off of frozen treats you’re either insane or lactose intolerant. If you’re looking to cool off on a budget, give Sottozero in Bugibba a try.

7. The Fort Cafe

Okay this is a biased pick, these guys have their cafe set up right beneath the office and they’re pretty much the only reason we’re all still alive. With friendly service, convenient location (for us, not so much for anyone else) and an insane breakfast ftira that’s only €2.60 and lasts us the whole day, how could we not fall in love?
