Teen Becomes Second Maltese Person To Receive Massive YouTube Honour

Stella Ċini hasn’t even turned 20 years old yet, but she’s been killing it on Instagram and Facebook. If there’s one thing she does really well, though, it’s YouTube. The young Maltese woman has slowly built herself up to become one of the island’s top social media influencers, and she now has a YouTube honour to prove it; a Silver Play Button!

YouTube Silver Play Buttons are awarded when accounts get 100,000 subscribers. Stella’s YouTube account has been growing at such a large rate, that by the time she received her Silver Play Button, she’s already at 134,571 subscribers… nearly halfway to getting her second Silver Play Button.

This makes Stella the first Maltese woman (and the second Maltese person) to receive the official YouTube honour, after undisputed local meme king Grandayy received his second Silver Play Button earlier this year

“I’m beyond mind blown,” Stella told her 24,400-strong Instagram followers on Tuesday. “Thank you to anyone and everyone who ever decided to stick by my awful and often cringey videos. You guys made my day and probably the rest of my year!”

Stella’s social media feed is a mix of hair and beauty tips, brand endorsements, and everyday vlogs, and she’s been gradually building up a cult following which is extending far beyond our tiny island.

Just last September, one of her YouTube Videos (which, to be fair, already had nearly half a million views) was reshared by Facebook beauty page You’re Gorgeous, with that video now sitting on 909,000 views. And that’s just the one video; Stella has uploaded nearly 200. As it stands, her YouTube channel has a amassed a total of 10,793,081 views… and we’re willing to bet that number is only going to increase in the very near future.

In her most recent video – uploaded on the same day she broke the news of the YouTube Silver Play Button on Facebook and Instagram – Stella shared a vlog detailing “a day in the life of a social media influencer”.

“The title of this video is very very pretentious,” Stella preempted. “But it gets the message through, so I’m like yeah, alright, let’s do it!” In the 10 minute vlog, Cini gives her viewers an insight into what it means to be a teenage social media influencer in Malta, including boxes of goodies from many different companies, and a drive up to Gozo for a photoshoot.
