Watch: ‘Malta Is An Architectural Gem’ – Ridley Scott Praises Malta For Its Cultural Heritage

Sir Ridley Scott described Malta as “an architectural gem” while talking about his highly-anticipated film Napoleon which features some scenes shot on the island last year.

The multi-award winning director together with History’s Hit’s Dan Snow broke down battle scenes from the epic and complex life story of Napoleon Bonaparte some of which was filmed in Malta.

“We shot this in Malta. Malta in a funny kind of way is an architectural gem,” Scott shared while describing the explosive battle scene filmed in Birgu.

“Its architecture is medieval, renaissance, it’s stunning. Mdina is incredible,” Sir Ridley added as he breaks down the epic battles which saw Napoleon rise to Emperor and fall to exile.

Napoleon, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French Emperor, will be out in cinemas next week on 22nd November.

Scott is also directing the Gladiator sequel here in Malta which is expected to resume filming in early December after Hollywood’s actors strike ended on 9th November.
