Brooke’s Eurovision Song Checkmates Leading Maltese Chart
Singer-songwriter Brooke awoke to great news this morning – her Eurovision entry Checkmate has reached top spot in local chart Il-Klassifika tal-Maltin.
“Cannot believe it! Big big thanks to everybody,” Brooke said in a social media post as a song of hers reached number 1 on Il-Klassifika tal-Maltin for the third time in her musical career.
Brooke was widely considered to be a favourite to represent Malta at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, with her song even earning the endorsement of Ruslana, the Ukrainian winner of the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest .
However, The Busker won the competition with Dance (Our Own Party), with Checkmate finishing in 5th place.
However, Checkmate has proved popular among fans regardless and has been streamed over 40,000 times on Spotify since its release on 18th February.
