Watch: ‘Floppo!’ Sicilian Hopeful’s Audition Ends Up Being One Of X Factor Malta’s ‘Most Awkward’

A language barrier between a young Sicilian contestant and some of the judges on X Factor Malta has just given us one of the show’s most awkward auditions yet… and that’s according to the judges themselves.

26-year-old Rocco Brugaletta’s rendition of Johnny Cash’s Ring Of Fire was off to a rocky start even before he starts singing thanks to a simple misunderstanding of Gianluca’s question on how long he’s been singing – to which the young man answers with the song title.

But it’s the post-audition comments where the awkwardness really shone through… especially when it came to Amber trying to give her feedback in broken Italian.

“Io floppo con l’Italiano,” the judge started, resulting in the other three to erupt in laughter.

Howard even chimed in after the to-and-fro while Ira and Gianluca acted as translators, calling it “one of the most awkward performances” he’s ever experienced.

Long story short, from Rocco’s lack of guitar playing (despite the instrument joining him as a “proppo”) and his lack of preparation according to the judges led to the Ragusa hopeful to get Four Nos, but the whole thing ended up being one long comical look at a complete breakdown in communication.

In other words, an absolute floppo.

Do you think Rocco deserved at least one Yes?
