Heart-Shaped Stickers Demanding Justice For JeanPaul Sofia Spotted Around Malta
Heart-shaped stickers reading #JusticeForJeanPaulSofia have started to appear around Malta, supporting the push for a public inquiry into the death of JeanPaul Sofia.
The 20-year-old died in December after being caught in the collapse of a construction site situated in Kordin, leading to protests and calls for a public inquiry.
Tributes for Sofia have been publically removed before, with a memorial at Castille being swept away shortly after it was placed.
His mother, Isabelle Bonnici, has widely insisted on a public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her son’s death, saying, “I don’t want my son to have died for nothing”.
Despite the site’s demolition hindering the progress of ongoing inquiries, no advancements have been made in the investigation, and a public inquiry has not been opened.
The police recently arrested a friend of Sofia’s after he hung a poster calling for justice next to the parliament. Police then argued that the man was detained because he was displaying suspicious behaviour.
MEP David Casa has also urged for a public inquiry to protect workers in Malta, recently urging European Trade Unions to show their support.
The presence of #JusticeForJeanPaulSofia stickers around Malta highlights the public’s continued concern for the case and the growing need for a public inquiry.
