Construction Worker Dangling From The Hook Of A Crane In Birkirkara Raises Safety Concerns
Images of what seems to be a construction worker dangling from the hook of a crane in Birkirkara have emerged online and is raising safety concerns.
The workers on site seem to be ignoring all possible safety measures, including the lack of basic construction gear.
The road has been identified as ‘Triq il-Knisja il-Qadima’. The island has seen several deaths and injuries as a result of a refusal to adhere to safety regulations.
This has become an issue that Malta’s construction sphere can’t seem to shake.
Just a month ago, two workers on a construction site in Floriana had rocks fall on them and one of these men suffered from life-threatening injuries as a result.
Meanwhile, the architects that were responsible for the tragic death of Miriam Pace have just been indicted. With one receiving 480 hours of community service and a fine of €10,000, while the other must undergo 400 hours of community service and an €8,000 fine.
Lovin Malta has reached out to the OHSA for a comment on the matter. It is investigating the matter further.
