Sempre Vivo is the second edition of the memorial concert by Il-Karus l-Aħmar in aid of Puttinu Cares happening in Xagħra Gozo this Friday 11th August.

Il-Karus l-Aħmar was created by a group of friends who were mourning the loss of Geordie Muscat who sadly passed away in August 2021 after his battle with cancer. This group serves as a way to keep Geordie’s memory alive.

Geordie was an energetic, kind young man who had a positive outlook on life and he was the one that actually inspired his friends to start this initiative from something that he used to do.

Muscat used to keep a “karus aħmar” and every day, would put money into it and would then use this money to help others or for something that was sentimental to him once it was full.

A month after his passing, his friends decided to take a “karus aħmar” to the village feast with them to collect money to donate to Puttinu Cares and after a successful weekend where they collected €6,000 they came up with their mission to #HelpGeordieHelpOthers.

Last year, Sempre Vivo was the first edition of this concert which included an orchestra, band and local singers with carefully selected songs to convey meaningful messages to the listening audience.

During this concert and with the help of other fundraising activities, the group managed to collected €36,000 which was all donated to Puttinu Cares last year.

This year’s edition will incorporate different genres of music and they will also be introducing a children’s choir with the hope to unite everyone in audience through the songs played and to remind people to celebrate life.

The concert is a free event is funded by the Cultural Heritage Directorate, Ministry for Gozo and supported by Visit Malta and the Xagħra Local Council.
