In Photos: The Destructive Aftermath Of Yesterday’s Thunderstorm In Malta

Malta is clearly not built for any sort of rain, storm, or Force 8 winds – and images from across the island from the weekend prove it.

During the weekend, a chaotic yet very-much needed storm hit the islands after months of hot weather and a prolonged summer.

However, as everyone has undeniably figured out – Malta is not prepared for this type of weather.

Many people spent their weekend wiping down their floors from the rain that had leaked indoors.

Furthermore, roads were scarily dangerous to drive in, with some delivery services shutting down for a few hours.

Aside from the flooded roads, a tree could have easily just fallen on your car – just as happened in Qormi to this one driver.

Apart from the incident in Qormi, another tree fell on a car in Attard, at around 4pm.

One person sent Lovin Malta pictures of a parked car trapped underneath a tree that had fallen and blocked the rest of the street.

Though the sun seems to be shining this morning, the aftermath of the storm seems pretty dire, with many sharing videos of streets filled with waste from the sea, and certain valleys still flooded with rainwater.

Alas, it’s not over yet, another storm is set to hit the islands tomorrow!

Do you enjoy this type of weather or are you already wishing for summer’s return?
