Bus Driver’s Rude Behaviour Costs Him Chance Of Transport Malta Job
A former bus driver who swore at an old man on a packed bus on his last day of work has been denied the chance to work at Transport Malta after his rude behaviour was caught on camera.
The driver was filmed arguing with an old man on a packed bus two weeks ago, hurling swear words at him and challenging him to a fight as the old man kept shouting at him to drive faster.
After the video went viral on Facebook, Lovin Malta reported the bus driver had already resigned from Malta Public Transport to join Transport Malta and was indeed filmed swearing at the old man on the last day of his notice period.
A Transport Malta spokesperson today told this website it has decided not to hire the man, whose identity we are concealing, as a result of this video.
“ Transport Malta, following a call, was in the process of engaging a former bus driver,” the spokesperson said. “The person was due to commence his duties with Transport Malta on the 14th November. LovinMalta carried out an article where the person was identified as the one who had entered a fight with an elderly person while on his previous duties as a bus driver. The video of the fight was widely circulated online.”
“Transport Malta cannot accept such behaviour on public buses, run by Malta Public Transport and definitely cannot accept such behaviour by one of its employees. The Authority has thus decided not to employ the person in question.”
