Fire In Miżieb Valley As Authorities Battle To Control Blaze Started In Dry Grass
A fire erupted in the woodlands of Miżieb valley this morning as the summer heat met the dry grass covering large swathes of natural land.
Members of the Civil Protection Department and firefighters were called to the scene to battle the spread of the flames. While the fire has yet to be fully controlled, it has been confirmed that no one was injured in the blaze thus far.
This is not the first case of a fire starting in the dry grasslands of Malta this summer
Authorities are appealing to local councils and farmers to begin removing dry grass before Malta heads further into the summer season. Members of the public have also been asked to not throw their cigarette butts onto this type of land as that may very well be the spark that sets off a fire.
