A man is being treated for his injuries in Mater Dei hospital after being beaten by a couple late last night.

Police were informed of a violent incident at around 10.50pm last night in Triq it-Tiġrija, Marsa.

When they arrived on site, they found an injured man, aged 44 from Qormi, who had been threatened and attacked by a couple, also from Qormi. The couple consists of a 34-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, police said.

The couple and the man had an argument before the fight began.

A medical team were sent to assist the man before taking him to hospital for further treatment. He was later certified with grievous injuries.

Police investigations are still underway.

There have been a spike in violent incidents recently, with a number of brawls reported over the last few weeks.
