Maltese Dancer Felix Busuttil ‘Seriously Considers’ Running For MEP
Dance teacher and choreographer Felix Busuttil has confirmed he is “seriously considering” contesting the 2019 MEP elections on the Labour ticket.
His Facebook page, currently listed as a ‘Political Party’ posted a cryptic message a few days ago teasing a change of pace but all “in its own time”. Now, he’s confirmed with Lovin Malta that he’s almost made up his mind to run for one of the six seats available to Malta in the European Parliament.
Felix has long been a vocal advocate for LGBT+ rights, but he stepped into the political scene in mid 2017 when he spoke at a Labour mass meeting in Naxxar.
Addressing the thousands gathered, Busuttil told the crowd “I’m Gozitan. I’m gay and in a civil union. I will soon get married. I stand behind Joseph.”
He was the main speaker at the event, delivering his rousing speech moments before Joseph Muscat took to the stage.
The speech caused controversy among those who claimed Busuttil was earning over €50,000 a year from his position with the Malta Arts Council, but these rumours were quelled after Felix posted a copy of his contract on Facebook.
