PN Set For Major Shadow Cabinet Reshuffle As Bernard Grech Meets With MPs

A major reshuffle of PN Leader Bernard Grech’s Shadow Cabinet is currently underway, sources have told Lovin Malta.

This newsroom is informed that Grech is meeting with MPs and internal party figures to iron out their new roles.

Discussions will continue on Tuesday. However, sources have said there will be an announcement by the end of the week.

It’s been more than 100 days since Grech was elected PN Leader. Still, his Shadow Cabinet is the one he inherited from Adrian Delia.

Grech has said his Shadow Cabinet will include everyone, even his predecessor, but Delia reportedly turned down Grech’s offer to shadow a portfolio.

Prime Minister Robert Abela reshuffled his Cabinet on 21st November, introducing a number of new portfolios, such as a ministry for research, innovation and the coordination of the COVID-19 strategy and a ministry for inclusion and quality of life.

Following this reshuffle, lecturer-blogger Simon Mercieca claimed that Grech was about to announce his own reshuffle, but a PN spokesperson dismissed this allegation as completely untrue.

With an election on the way and the PN making gains, 2021 might be the moment where Grech starts introducing major changes to the party’s administration.
