St Julian’s Mayor Warns Against Commercial Trash Not Being Collected In Paceville As Issue Persists
St Julian’s mayor Albert Buttigieg has once again warned against commercial trash not being collected by the relevant body in Paceville.
This comes as the hygiene issue continues to persist in Malta’s nightlife hub, where various entities are responsible for collecting the trash.
“This was the situation yesterday morning in Paceville on the day that only organic waste is collected .. the council collects residential waste!” the mayor emphasised.
“All this commercial waste is supposed to be collected by private contractors. By law, the shops must have a contractor,” he outlined.
Since the trash in question is not residential, but commercial, it means it belongs to businesses in the area and the responsibility of the companies to sort it out.
“Why are we afraid to enforce the laws? How long will we just talk?” he questioned.
“Although great efforts are being made to bring in tourists, this is definitely not the way! Where are the MTA and ERA?” he said, calling out the entities.
“Now that the election is over, there is no fear that a vote will be lost,” he said.
Buttigieg has spoken out about the commercial trash situation in Paceville many times, with similar calls dating back to last summer.
A few weeks back, Lovin Malta also unveiled a series of shocking images all taken on Paceville’s streets after a weekend. Many residents have also warned against the lack of cleanliness present.
