Listen: Chilling Noises Of Moment San Ġużepp Firework Factory Exploded In Kirkop
A fatal firework factory explosion has devastated the nation and rattled residences close by with its chilling noises and pillars of smoke.
“I had just started to wake up moments before, and suddenly three loud explosions woke me up completely. I got out of the balcony and there were others doing the same, and some heard some commotion from a distance,” a witness told Lovin Malta.
Audio sent to Lovin Malta depicts the exact moment the three explosions occurred. It was taken from CCTV stationed 900m metres away from the San Ġużepp fireworks factory.
Photo and video footage sent to Lovin Malta shows the commotion going on behind the rubble walls with a number of emergency vehicles rushing to the rural roads between Kirkop, Safi and Żurrieq as officials and some residents clashed in one nervous moment.
The explosion happened at around 7.10 this morning on Triq Ħal-Far and resulted in the tragic death of 64-year-old Kirkop resident, Leonard Camilleri who was in the room when the explosion occurred.
Since then, heartfelt tributes have been pouring in for “Nardu” as he was known by close friends.
Another three people were hospitalised, two of which suffering from light injuries while the third thankfully made it out physically unscathed.
