Watch: PN Must Get Rid Of Its ‘Blue Heroes’, Silvio Schembri Says After Electoral Landslide

Minister and PL candidate Silvio Schembri has advised the Nationalist Party to clean itself from within of politicians who “only spit out spite and hated”.
Speaking to Lovin Malta, Schembri expressed why he believes the PL has maintained such a consistently large majority over the PN over the past decade.
“Many people have long been telling the PN what it should do,” he said. “It must clear out all those people who only spit out spite and hatred, the GonziPN clique that remained there under Simon Busuttil and eventually the Blue Heroes who got rid of Adrian Delia.”
“The people have shown time and time again, for the 11th consecutive time, that they don’t want these people and it’s useless trying to persist.”
“Contrarily, when the PL felt initial signals from the people that some changes were necessary, it responded immediately. It wasn’t arrogant, we carried out internal changes and we remained a united party.”
“The PL believes that its strength, the national interest and the interests of the party are greater than individual interests; this isn’t the case in the PN yet, which is why it has suffered another thrashing.”
Early indications show that the Labour Party has won the election by a significant majority over the PN.
Labour Party insiders have suggested that the gap could be similar to 2017. However, an official result will be revealed later today after electronic counting.
PN leader Bernard Grech has pledged to remain in charge, contesting a leadership election that must be held as per party statute.
Why do you think the PL won the election so convincingly?
